Does COMESA Customs Unions have this needed Political will? PDF Print E-mail

The COMESA integration agenda has politically been led by Member States through the Council of Ministers and the Authority. Besides the commitment that was made by the founding fathers of COMESA , that is clearly reflected in the COMESA Treaty, The COMESA Authority of Heads States and Government have continuously committed themselves to the COMESA Customs Union ( CU) in different Summits. During the 12th Summit held in Nairobi Kenya in May 2007, they adopted a Common External Tariff (CET), and reaffirmed their commitment to launch the CU on 8th December 2008.
